Hey, everyone.  We just got this new gadget, and I look forward to sharing some short videos of our work, mission and supporters.  So, if there is anything you've been dying to see - - let me know!   Shannon

Tough Choices

People who are unfamiliar with our work at Good Shepherd Housing often ask me, 'Who are your clients?' or 'How do so many people become homeless?'
This article from yesterday's Washington Post, called "Homelessness: The Family Portrait" goes a long way to answer those questions.

Obviously, lower- and middle-class families are being hard hit by this economy, but I liked how this article leads you through some of the difficult choices that these families have to make. Affordable childcare, quality schools, rent, food or utilities... Even making the "right" choice does not protect you from a bad economy or simply bad luck.

Thanks, Nancy!

If you work in an office that sports a staff refrigerator, you know that they can be an experience.  Here at GSHFS we owe a big thank you to volunteer Nancy Oden'hal for cleaning and organizing the one we have.

Nancy, you are a brave woman!  We are grateful.
