Congratulations to the Women's Group of Mt. Vernon! Verizon Wireless' Hopeline Program is offering a cash award that will go to the Women's Group to support their work, associated with Fairfax County being honored with the Attorney General's Community Recognition Program.

Here at GSHFS, we feel a special pride when we see the Women's Group of Mt. Vernon gain positive attention and momentum. Several years ago, it began when two of our staff saw a need, and helped to address it. While support for people with domestic violence isn't a core part of our mission, it is important. So, we helped foster a grassroots effort in the community, and now that it is fully formed and maturing, it only seems natural to feel pride in the effort.

Kudos to Mattie and Kari, and all of those that make up the Women's Group. We know that the cash award will be well used, and they deserve every bit of credit they receive for helping others in need!
